A panda party

I saw bamboo paper straws in a store one time when Ren and I were buying a birthday present for a friend. On a whim, I bought them. (Sorry Paul, I gave in to impulse shopping!)

At the time, I thought I’d use them for some sort of panda party.  Yes, the sight of those straws spawned a whole new party idea for me. A short while later, I experimented with some white card stock and a Sharpie:

Easy-breezy! I’m not sure if it looks like the panda is drinking through the straw as I intended but I think it looks cute regardless! (Please ignore the pencil marks that show how I sketched things out first before using the Sharpie; I forgot to erase them before taking pics!)

Without going all-out, we’ve had a couple of little ‘panda parties’, which really just consist of dressing in white and black, inviting all our panda stuffies and having snacks and drinks using these cups. It’s a fun, easy way to step up snack-time during a playdate!
