On the second last day of our reunion, the mamas carved out a bit of time for a mama’s lunch! After countless emails, some skyping, and Facebooking, it was incredible to connect – just us – in person. It is still unbelievable to me that when we adopted our daughter, I also gained life-long friends in these incredible women.
(Shea, Rae, and me in the back, Carolyn, Beth and Kathleen in the front)
After a yummy supper at Shea’s that evening, we ventured across the street to her park where we took group photos. Paul was leaving early the next morning so this was our very last chance to capture all of us together:
Spending a Saturday night at the park with these people on a gorgeous summer evening was a little bit of heaven.
The kids had a lot of fun on the tire swing … until they started getting sick! I love Ava’s expression in the photo below: it’s sweet how she is sharing the moment with Ren.
Ren was the first man down. He dry-heaved on the sidelines while I rubbed his back. Once he was stabilized, poor geezer, I was back to capturing the fun!
In retrospect, I think Ava was starting to get queasy in the photo above! Once Ava’s motion-sickness set in, we called the tire swing quits.
It was definitely a bittersweet evening knowing that we would be saying our goodbyes the next day. But we knew more good times were still ahead.
