I heart faces photo challenge

I’ve never won a contest in my life. Yes, I’ve won the odd prize here and there but only when it was totally random, not skill-based. My older sister and one of my older brothers, on the other hand, have won tons of skill-based contests, from turkey bingo poster contests in elementary school to designing posters in design school for an art session in Florence. Sigh. Imagine always living in their shadows! I can still see my little self, circa 1985, labouring over my turkey bingo poster, unaware that I was about to experience my first of many artistic disappointments.

But I guess I’m the proverbial eternal optimistic because here I am again, entering another skill-based challenge. With this blog post, I’m entering the I heart faces photo challenge at http://www.iheartfaces.com/

Not that I expect to have the chosen entry, but what the heck, I might as well put myself out there! Let’s just hope my illustrious siblings, Stephanie and Geoff, don’t suddenly decide to enter too …

I chose this photo because the weekly theme at I heart faces is Winter Wonderland. I like this photo in particular for a few reasons. I love the golden light of the late afternoon winter sun, I like Claire’s contemplative expression which is slightly unexpected in the middle of a rip-roaring good sledding adventure, and I like Ren’s little face (and his bear hat) peeking over Claire’s shoulder in anticipation.

Good luck to me!

  • I love the light too. Thanks for commenting on my blog. I live down the road in Great Falls, Montana, but originally from London, Ontario. Love getting up to Alberta to visit, but will have to wait for nicer weather now.
