Hijinks and tenderness

Monday is the only day I have both kids home in the afternoon so today was the day we visited Santa at the mall. I’m happy to report there was no crying this year! Ren didn’t exactly smile but at least he didn’t sob either! Claire’s picture is her best yet, I think. But alas, I do not have those images to share (haven’t scanned them yet).

Before we went to the mall, I did make the kids pose for my own camera. I thought I’d share the two below, because they really capture different aspects of Claire and Ren’s relationship.

For some reason, Claire thought it would be lovely to pose beneath the chair I had asked her to sit on. While she was offering me her fakest file, Ren saw the empty chair and grabbed the opportunity. I’m glad I had the camera ready to capture this little real moment.

So that’s the “hijinks” referred to in the title. The tenderness came a little later when they decided to pose together for me. Claire is out of focus here and therefore blurry but I love both of their expressions and how Claire is reaching up to hold Ren’s hand around her shoulder.

It’s pretty grainy because of the high ISO I used but I like it anyway. Or maybe because of it – I’m not sure.

  • I love the first photo… it really does capture a moment that shows how they really are together. I like the graininess in the second photo too!ReplyCancel
