Another attempt at Christmas photos
Today, we took another stab at photos for our Christmas cards. I had to laugh when I read a post from my blogger friend Jill recently because she was trying yet again for just the look she had in mind. I’ve been doing the same thing for the last couple of weeks! Well, at least we’re getting a lot of mileage out of Ren and Claire’s official Christmas outfits.
Last night as I was checking out Facebook, I saw that one of my favourite photography resources was offering a limited-time freebie on some of her new Christmas card templates. And lo and behold, she had a set that would match Claire and Ren’s outfits perfectly. The weirdest thing is that the set is called “Merry and Bright”, which is exactly the caption I have on our draft Christmas cards (and with the same colours!). So of course I had to download the set! Thank you again to Shana Rae and her Florabella Collection for this gorgeous giveaway! If you haven’t heard of her work before, check her out on Facebook or at: www.florabellacollection.com/blog
It may be overkill, but I had to use a couple of her other frames for this post. They are just so beautiful.
I think this last one is my favourite of Claire from today.
And one more, but without a fancy frame. I love Claire’s crinkly nose in this one. I think of that as her signature look.
I haven’t been having much luck getting a great picture of Ren lately, despite his handsome good looks. In the last couple of months, the poor kid has taken on a couple of facial tics (or something) and one in particular (opening his mouth really wide) is pretty much a constant thing. (We and his early ed teachers have a couple of theories about the facial movements but beyond seeing our pediatrician about his ears [nothing as far as she could tell], we haven’t taken it further yet. We’ll be doing so soon.) Anyway, as a result, I often catch him on camera looking not like himself. These were the best I could get all week, unfortunately.
I mean, he’s still super-cute in these but they just don’t capture his usual spark!
I still don’t think I’ve captured exactly what I had in mind for our Christmas cards but I think I have to give up. The kids are so sick of these outfits! And besides, if the Saskatchewan Roughriders win the Grey Cup tomorrow (as I’m sure they will), we’ll be wearing nothin’ but our Rider gear for weeks!
