School boy

Ren’s first day of school was today. The photo above is actually deceiving because he looks apprehensive in it but in reality, he was super-excited about his first day. We had a parent / child orientation yesterday in his classroom and he played happily the entire time so I knew he’d be excited to go back to those same toys again today.

I was a little nervous about how he was feeling when I left him this afternoon but was greatly relieved to learn afterwards that he had an amazing afternoon. His teacher actually said, and I quote, “He’s a dream. I love him”. Yahoo!!!
Here’s another shot of my big boy before school today, beside our address sign (I’ve obscured the address for privacy):
That’s our traditional spot for the “back to school” photo because the address sign is a good benchmark for the kids’ growth in height.
More smiles:
See, I told you he was actually happy!
It was fun to chat with him after school. I was all questions and he was all answers. I was surprised that he wanted to tell me as much as he did. Claire got into the act too, peppering him with cute little questions, like “Do you have a girlfriend at school, Renners?” His response was just as cute, “No. Just Claire”.
Happy school days, my sweet boy!
ps – Ren was baptized on the weekend and I’ll be posting photos from that very soon, hopefully. I have a lot of pics to go through!

  • What a handsome fellow! I'm glad to hear his first day went well. As a teacher, it's a joy to receive children who are so happy and eager to learn.
From the clothing it definitely cooler out your way. For our first day today it was a sweltering 40 degrees Celsius. It was a great day but we all felt a little bit like melting.ReplyCancel
