Five years ago today, we were officially placed on China’s waiting list (“logged in”) for a child. At the time, we expected about a six-month wait to be matched with a child. But unbeknownst to us at the time, things were slowing down in China due to a large number of applicants. That six month wait turned into an excruciating 14-month wait (short by today’s standards, however!) and at last, on December 1, 2006, we were matched with the most beautiful little girl we’ve ever seen. We are now thankful for the wait we endured because our precious daughter was not yet ready for us.
As we celebrate this special anniversary, I also want to extend anniversary wishes to several of our travel-mates who share this day. Happy LID anniversary!!!
That’s my emotional part of this post. Now for the frivolous part …. A while ago, I learned about a woman in the States who creates stunning headpieces for adults and children, mostly for photographic purposes. Her business is called Gracylu Originals and you can find her on Facebook (her website will debut shortly). If you take a look at her work, you’ll see how I couldn’t resist ordering one. It arrived on Thursday of this past week and I took the following pictures the next day.
