Many of you have noticed and commented on the logo I’ve been adding to my photos. The credit goes entirely to my sister-in-law, Marlene. I emailed her and my brother, Geoff, a while ago, asking for advice about font and that sort of thing. She and my brother are both graphic designers and I always appreciate their insight. Marlene and Geoff both responded with advice but then Marlene surprised me a couple of days later with this logo!
Marlene said she had in mind a nice small square, something reminiscent of a Chinese chop. She wanted it modern and clean, and it had to be legible even if reproduced small and screened back to a lesser opacity.
I absolutely love the look of the logo, but I especially love the Chinese chop concept. For those who aren’t familiar with this term, a Chinese chop is like a seal or stamp in lieu of a signature. As a special keepsake from China, we had chops made for Claire and Ren when we adopted them:
The wood is embellished with a figure of a dog to represent the children’s year of birth (2006, the Year of the Dog in the Chinese calendar).
Thank you so much, Marlene, for channelling your talent and creativity into this incredible logo for me! I am using it with pride!
